Erna Helana Ania
The exhibition explores themes of storytelling and visual narratives, offering visitors a profoundly compelling experience.
Tomasz Laczny’s project Erna Helena Ania delves into his family history, uncovering the hidden story of his German grandmother, whose forbidden love with a Polish man during WWII led to her imprisonment and the traumatic birth of Laczny’s mother. Through evocative drawings and archival exploration, the project confronts themes of identity, love, and survival on the Polish-German borderland.
The exhibition will also include a special display of photobooks, showcasing works developed by Laczny and participants from his workshops over the last three years. Visitors will have the opportunity to view photobook dummies in progress, offering insight into the creative process behind these works.
The opening event is on Thursday, December 12th, from 18:00 to 20:30.
On December 14th, Laczny will host a one-day photobook-making workshop at the gallery. Here is more details and booking info: https://www.photobookworkshop.com/booking-london
