Artist Statement

The on-going project The Decisive and Other Moments is a series of long exposure photography up to a yearlong recorded by both pinhole and conventional cameras.
It is centred around the remains of a Georgian house, its gardens and the estuarine country and marshlands of Northeast Essex. The images trace some of the personal, familial, social, artistic and scientific histories connected to this place. The medium itself is severely tested in making the images by the exposure not only to light but also to the degrading properties of the climatic conditions in a manner that mirrors the effects of time on the, sometimes decaying and disintegrating, signs of human presence and endeavours within these landscapes.
