This autumn Four Corners celebrates Suffragette history in East London.
The Modern Suffragette project offers free photography skills workshops for mothers, culminating in an exhibition at Four Corners Gallery in early 2019.
The project takes inspiration from Norah Smyth’s images of the East End Suffragettes, to ask:
What would the suffragettes have photographed today?
Participants will also have the opportunity to research archival suffragette photographs and visit the local area where the East End Suffragettes led their activities.
The project offers:
Workshop Time and Dates
Thursday and Friday mornings in November and December 10am-1.00pm, at Four Corners.
November: 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30
December: 6, 7, 13, 14
Followed by 4 further days in the New Year to set up a final exhibition of work.
The Modern Suffragette is part of The Women's Hall project, a collaborative programme of events celebrating the history of the East London Federation of Suffragettes in 2018.
