Trainees on Alexa camera workshop

Digital Film Micro Lab was a free training scheme promoting better-paid, sustainable employment for film/TV freelancers and low paid employees from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds.

The 2014-16 scheme supported 40 talented trainees to develop careers in Camera, Editing and Production, including:

  • Practical Edit, Camera and Production courses
  • BECTU Creative Industries Safety passport
  • Advice/guidance & Industry mentors
  • Advisory sessions including tax, CV writing, self-marketing, social networking
  • Job-search support
  • Networking & screening events

This programme was supported by Creative Skillset's Film Skills Fund, which is funded by the BFI with National Lottery funds, through the Skills Investment Fund.  We were also supported by ITF/FT2 Legacy Fund to provide 5 paid placements in camera and editing on UK feature film or TV drama productions.
